Here to Stay…

I’ve dabbled in the blogging world for a while now. At times I love it. At times I loathe it. The loathing it part is generally because I haven’t always cared for the feel or format. But even more so, it has frustrated me because putting yourself out there for the world to see comes with price. I’ve written about this before. You can read those posts here, here, and here. Fortunately, I am not alone. I’ve spoken with a lot of people who’ve suffered similar frustrations.

Suffice to say, something in me has changed. I don’t know what it is, but I actually feel like I have developed some authentic passion for my life in Christ. It’s not some residual passion that came from elsewhere on the outside. This thing is internal and I love it and I want to keep it.

Moreover, I have discovered a blog format that I really, really like. My friends at Theobloggers have been such big helps. Brad Palmore has exhibited the patience of Job with me for over a year now. I owe him a lot for his help and guidance. Brad is actually the one who convinced me to pull the trigger on the MACR program, as well. Too, Joey Cope (Distinct Impressions) and the MACR program have only served to fuel my passion to improve my writing while writing more. This is the perfect place!

So I am here to stay! I doubt I will post everyday, but I will be posting significantly more content.

Those of you who are regulars around here, thank you for bearing with me as I try to get things figured out.

so why does your pic show up when other’s comment

    • http://theobloggers.com/members/douglasryoung/ douglasryoung.net

Not certain, Brian. I’ve inquired to Brad about it and he said that this has been happening on a couple of Theoblogger blogs. I went ahead and disabled the avatars until they figure it out.

I must say, though, you were oftly handsome!

      • http://bradpalmore.com Brad Palmore

All better now. Everyone has their own ugly mug next to their comments now.

        • http://theobloggers.com/members/douglasryoung/ douglasryoung.net

LOL. I’m not so sure any of them enjoyed being me in the cyber-world!

    I like, Big Doug… I like.

I’ve told you this before my friend, but you have played a big role in my life. Thank you for your friendship, your love for God and your love for “the least of these…”

  • http://bradpalmore.com Brad Palmore

Wow! What a complementary post! Thanks, Doug!

Does this mean I get blamed if it doesn’t work out well?

    • http://theobloggers.com/members/douglasryoung/ douglasryoung.net

      Only partial blame, Brad. LOL

I am with you…I have been in and out of the blogging world, but I am trying to be more in recently. Just posted one today!

Katherine…Finding the time is difficult, especially if you really want to do it well. I’ve not been happy with the content I’ve served up. I want that to change.
FWIW…As a missionary in China, you have an incredible opportunity to do some things with your blog that can really make a difference. Do it Katherine!

      • http://chinakat.theobloggers.com Katherine

Yep, I can relate-I tend to not be satisfied with what I write, so I keep re-vamping and then don’t end up posting.

I know, I know!! I need to spend more time and put more effort into it!!

Doug, you’re one of my favorite bloggers, because your passion gushes out of every word you write. I’d comment more, but I seem to be addicted to commenting on controversial stuff on other blogs.

I’m glad you’re finally beginning to sense in yourself the passion for Jesus that the rest of us have consistently been in awe of. I hope it rubs off on me!

Nick…I appreciate you more than you know. You’ve been a steadying hand for those of us on some shaky rides. I watch you from afar as you dialogue with others. People have learned to be careful with you because you know your stuff. It’s a dangerous thing to engage you in a discussion. Your calling is apparent to me. Keep it up, bro! AGAPE

I certainly relate. I read many blogs, sometimes daily, sometimes weekly. I don’t always post a comment. If I did I wouldn’t ever get anything else done. I always like reading your posts. Ok, almost always. j/k
I am amazed at the good writers out there. I have enjoyed blogging and I will probably keep on. I admit though that I get discouraged sometimes. Some days my mind just stays blank, or else it’s so congested that I can’t focus on a single subject.
Anyway, glad you are here to stay!
I agree with you about Brad. He has helped me over and over and never complained once.

We are extremely excited too! I found out that he kind of grew up here in Skiatook. That was a long time before we moved her.
