Sometimes the question of How is only answered after we've found the faith to obey. Kind of God's way of saying 'just do it, ask questions later..." Reminds me of Abraham, wood, an alter and Isaac: Gen 22: 7. And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering? 8. And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

I agree with Nick that the Holy Spirit does make us strong. The Bible says if that same spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in you it will quicken your mortal body. Also we are to live every day by faith. Romans 14 22-23 is very interesting. I'm only going to write the last part of verse 23 "everything that does not come from faith is sin." We aren't to have all the hows. That would cause us to sin. Jesus completed all the work and has all the answers. All we have to do is accept Jesus by faith, live for him ( Romans 1:17 "the rightous live by faith") and know that we have the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead.
Remember the joy of the Lord is your strengh. Sometimes I have to say this out loud until I laugh at what people would say if they heard me:)
Love ya!

I think we do, Doug.

I think that Paul believed that the "help that comes from God" was the risen Christ present with him through the Holy Spirit.

That's the help Jesus promised the disciples in the upper room before he died, and often in the Psalms God is described as the Helper of Israel. We don't catch it very well because we normally translate it as Deliverer, but for Paul the rabbi and apostle, I think the idea would have had deep connections.

Also, I find it intriguing that Paul uses his story in Jerusalem to convict the rulers. He seems to teach differently to Gentiles, since they knew very little, if anything, about the promise of God.
